Broken Hill is a Canadian media company based in Montreal, Quebec. Founded in 2013, Broken Hill was born of the desire to produce impactful films that bring difficult subject matter to light with an unflinching eye. True to that desire, our first three films have tackled the subjects of torture, conjugal violence, and hopelessness in an apocalyptic future.

At Broken Hill, we always strive to discuss these difficult topics in a fresh and unvarnished way, so that we can offer our audiences a new perspective on the issues that affect their lives and the lives of those they might know.

Broken Hill's first two short films, "THUMBSCREWS" and "In sickness", have screened at festivals in Canada, the United States and Mexico. "THUMBSCREWS" won two awards during its festival run. Ghost, the film's director, won the Fear no Filmmaker award at the Salt Lake City's Fear No Film Festival and the film won Best Experimental Film at Oklahoma City's Frack Fest.

Broken Hill is currently wrapping up post-production on the science fiction short film "Doomed". Two parents and their android servant struggle to find hope in the grips of a three-year winter famine that claimed the life of their son. Production funding was raised in part through a Kickstarter crowd funding campaign. During post production, Broken Hill partnered with the prestigious National Film Board of Canada to realise Doomed's soundtrack in stunning 5.1 surround.

In 2019, Broken Hill is set to begin production on its first feature film entitled "Devotion". Set in a totalitarian dystopia, the film follows the lives of nearly 20 people across eight storylines that all collide when the secret police massacres two dozen dissidents in cold blood.
